A gerund is a verbal that ends with (ing) and functions as a noun.Becuase gerund functions as a noun,it accupies some positions in a sentence
First,,, gerund as subject
Ex. Traveling might satisfy your desire for new experiences. (Traveling is the gerund which functions as subject
Second,,, gerund as direct object:
Ex. They do not appreciate my singing. (The gerund is singing which functions as object
Third,,, Gerund as subject complement:
Ex. My cat's favorite activity is sleeping. (The gerund is sleeping
Forth,,, Gerund as object of preposition
In this case ,you are required to memorize the preposition and here u will find some examples for the preposition that is followed by gerund
I've given examples for the first two expressions and u can complete the rest by your own effort
be accused of
e.g. The young man is accused of sellingillegal drugs.
be accustomed to
e.g. I am accustomed to eating spicy food.
