both(كلاهما) , either(إما هذا أو ذاك) , neither (لاهذا ولا ذاك)


We use both/neither/either for two things. You can use these words with a noun (both
books, neither book etc.).نستخدم both, either, neither للحديث عن شيئين، ونستطيع أن نستخدمها مع الأسماء مثال (both books, كلا الكتابين، neither book ولا كتاب، either book أي كتاب)

Example:
For example, you are talking about going out to eat this evening. There are two restaurants where you can go. You say:
مثال اذا كنت تريد الذهاب الى مطعم، هنالك مطعمان تريد أن تذهب إليهما فتقول:
Both restaurants are very good. (not ‘ the both restaurants’).
كلا المطعمين جيدين (لا تستخدم the مع both)

• Neither restaurant is expensive.
ولا مطعم من المطعمين غالي• We can go to either restaurant. I don’t mind. ( either=one or the other, it doesn’t matter which one)
نستطيع الذهاب الى واحد من االمطعمين، لا أمانع. (either بمعنى واحد من الاثنان )

• I was both tired and hungry when I arrived home.
لقد كنت جائع و تعبان عندما وصلت

Either… or…:
Either you apologies or I’ll never speak to you again.
إما أن تعتذر أو لن أن أتحدث معك بعد اليوم
Either Ali or Omer came to the party
إما علي أو عمر حضر الحفلة

Neither ….nor…:
Neither Ali nor Omer came to the party.
لا علي ولا عمر حضر الحفلة.

فلننظر لهذا المثال• ‘Do you want tea or coffee? (هل تريد قهوة أو شاي ؟)
اذا كان الجواب
I want both, coffe and tea فهذا بمعنى اريد الاثنين قهوة و شاي

اما اذا كان الجواب
‘Either. I don’t mind فهذا يعني أي شئ من الاثنين، إما قهوة أو شاي، لا أمانع

واذا كان الجواب
Neither, Thanks. بمعنى ولا شئ ، لا أريد قهوة ولا شاي ، شكر
